QInvest, Qatar’s leading Investment Bank, won an award of Excellence for Best Islamic Financial Institution in the Middle East from the 2010 IREF ME premier industry awards in London. The annual award ceremony was once again being held in conjunction with the British Property Federation (BPF), with Liz Peace, CEO of BPF presenting the accolade to QInvest.
Licensed by the Qatar Financial Center Authority in April 2007, QInvest, the fast growing investment bank, has already enjoyed considerable success, including the award for the 'Best Sharia’a Compliant Firm' at the Private Equity World Awards held in the UAE in January of this year, and an award for 'Sharia’a Fund of the Year' from the Global Investor Future of Capital Markets Forum in November 2010. These complement the firm’s latest global award of ‘Best Up-and-Comer’ investment bank and the country award for ‘Best Investment Bank in Qatar’ from Global Finance magazine.
QInvest has fuelled its growth strategy by successfully closing a rights offering to boost its paid-up capital beyond the initial US$ 500m to its current level of US$750m. In addition to strengthening its position as the leading investment bank in Qatar, with strategic partnerships in UK, USA and India, the firm established a representative office in Turkey and has obtained a provisional license in Saudi Arabia where it hopes to commence business, subject to regulatory approvals, later this year.
