QInvest, Qatar’s leading investment bank, participated in the Annual Sharia'a Conference that took place in the Kingdom of Bahrain at the Diplomat Hotel on the 7th and 8th of May 2012.
The Conference was held under the auspices of Central Bank of Bahrain and organized by the Accounting and Auditing Organization for Islamic Financial Institutions (AAOIFI), the international organization that formulates standards on accounting, auditing, ethics, governance, and Shari'a for the international Islamic finance industry.
QInvest’s Head of Legal & Sharia'a Affairs, and secretary to the board of Directors, Mr. Bernard Barbour, participated in the panel discussion covering matters related to legal issues in Islamic finance.
Mr. Barbour commended on his speaking participation saying:” we recognize the importance of participating in conferences that aim to develop and enrich the industry. AAOIFI Annual Sharia'a Conference usually provides an essential platform for discussions varying from technical Islamic banking and other financial services key matters to issues concerning Human Capital and legal challenges."

Amongst the topics discussed at the conference were: Sharia'a compliance & supervision processes, Continuing development of Islamic financial & capital markets, Potential areas for further growth of Islamic finance, and human capital and resources in Islamic finance.
